….while looking like a BOSS.

If you’re anything like me, going to the airport can be nerve-wracking. I get super anxious about missing my flight, although I never seem to get there 2 hours in advance. Thankfully, for someone like me, the airport cheat codes are a part of my travel experience: TSA Pre-Check, Global Entry and CLEAR. These programs are growing in popularity and the lines are starting to grow, but all three programs will absolutely save you time and hassle at the airport. Get into it!

TSA Pre-Check: Many people have already discovered the joy of TSA Pre-Check. As stated in the above graphic, you have the ability to skip the general security line and get redirected to the Pre-Check line. Enrolling in this program involves an interview, but once you’re in, your Pre-Check is valid for 5 years. Expedited screening eliminates the need for you to remove your shoes or items out of your luggage, such as laptops and toiletries. It gets you to your gate faster!

Global Entry speeds up the immigration process upon your return to the United States from international travels. Once you’ve reached Passport Control, you can be redirected to the Global Entry line and one step closer to home. The larger airports have implemented automated kiosks that will simply take your photo and send you on your way. You don’t even have to pull out your passport. I have found Global Entry to be CLUTCH in the busiest airports, such as Miami International (whew), Atlanta Hartsfield and Charlotte. It is also valid for 5 years and comes with Pre-Check (so you don’t need to apply for both programs!)

CLEAR adds a little extra zhuzh on your airport security screening process by using biometrics to verify your identity. This is the most expensive program of the three at $189 ANNUALLY and is the only one not operated by the US Government. Therefore, CLEAR does not come standard with TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry. You can usually get a 2 month free trial of CLEAR before deciding to commit.

Any of these programs will make you feel like you’re an airport VIP by skipping the general lines, but with all three? You’ll feel like you’ve got the ultimate cheat code. Traveling with folks who haven’t gotten the memo? They can meet you at the other side of security and/or immigration.
